Mrs. Vonsild was born in Tved, Denmark, May 2, 1877. She came to the United States in 1906, settling in Carson City. One year later she moved to Reno, and in 1909 she and Fred Vonsild Sr. were married here.

Mr. Vonsild, a Reno who later entered the construction business and before his retirement was employed at the Washoe County Courthouse, died in 1947. Mrs. Vonsild was very active in club and civic affairs during her residence in Reno. She was a 50-year member and past president of Danevireke No.

9 of Reno; was a past president of the Golden Age Club and was an active worker in the United Service Organization and the American Red Cross. She was also a member of the Elderberry Club, the Reno Women's Civic Club, various bridge clubs and was a member of the Lutheran Church, Surviving are three sons, Fred Vonsild Jr. of Carson City, Harvey Vonsild of Palm Springs, Calif. and Otto Vonsild of Portland, three grandchildren, Lindy Kendall of Fernley, Nickie Killfoil of Lovelock and Larry Vonsild, serving with the U.S. Marines in Vietnam.

Explosion Caused Fire Razes Home A home occupied by Walt McMurdo at 2801 Toll Road, was destroyed by fire Friday. The alarm was answered by units from Washoe County, Brown-Huffaker and the Nevada Department of Forestry.

Suspected cause of the fire was a spark igniting paint or gasoline fumes in a garage attached to the building. Eye witness told firemen they had seen several explosions at the start of the fire. Arthur Serpentino Arthur S. (Chris) Serpentino, 65, of 1263 Mark Twain died Friday in a Reno hospital. A native of Reno, he recently retired after working 35 years as a produce man with A.

Levy and J. Zentener of Reno, a firm which he originally started in 1923 under the name Reno Produce Co. He was widely known as an active hunter and fisherman, and was a member of the Mahala Gun Club. Surviving are: his wife, Florence, of Reno; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert K.

Frank Parker FALLON Frank C. Parker died at his home here Thursday. He was born Nov. 21, 1887, in Hantsport, Nova Scotia and lived in Fallon sice 1946. He was an ornamental sheet metal worker.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carmen Parker of Fallon, ter, Mrs. Joseph E. Matheson of Reno, and brothers, Roy Parker of Saskatoon, Can. He was a life member Rehodoam Lodge, of Toronto, which he joined in 1918.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Austin Funeral Home under the direction of Churchill Lodge NO. 26, followed by cremation. George Yonker George H. Yonker, a former Nevada resident, died in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Jan. 6, according to word received by friends in Gardnerville. Mr. Yonker, a 47-year-old retired army officer and veteran of World War II, made his home in Carson City, Reno and South Lake Tahoe before moving to Santa Rosa three months ago. He was a native of Missouri.

Sonoma County, California, authorities said Yonker apparently suffered a heart attack and died at the wheel of his automobile, which ran off the highway. They said Yonker underwent open heart surgery six years ago. Surviving are his wife, Margaret, of Santa Rosa; two daughters, Margaret Carpenter, of Fort Ord, and Mary Kathleen Yonker of Santa Rosa; two sons, James Michael and George H. Yonker Jr. of Santa Rosa; his mother, Mrs.

Ford Gilbert HENDERSON (UPI) Funeral services were held Thursday for the Rev. Ford Gilbert, a 32-year resident of southern Nevada.

He died Monday at a Henderson hospital. Gilbert had served as minister of the First Methodist Church in Las Vegas and the Community Church in Henderson. Frank Escabel Special to the Journal WINNEMUCCA Frank Escabel, 68, a former owner of the Winnemucca Hotel, died early Saturday morning in Humboldt Hospital where he was admitted Jan.

9. A native of Oroz Beteleu, Spain, he was born Oct. 25, 1901. He came to the United States in 1920 and lived in the Ely area before settling in the Winnemucca area in 1936. In Sept.

1938, he bought the Winnemucca Hotel with Jose Insera. Two years later Steve Martinez purchased Insera's interest. Mr. Escabel was naturalized in September, 1941. In 1946, the Martinez' sold their interest to Angel and Eugenia Mendiola, and they continued to operate the hotel until 1965, when the partners retired, selling to the present owners, Miguel and Margaret Olano, Claudio and Jesusa Yzaquirre, all formerly of Burns, Ore.

Mr. Escabel's brother, Ralph, died in 1964. Survivors include four sisters: Maria Larrea; Dorjotea, Juanita and Elena Escabel, all of Navarre, Spain; and a cousin, Mrs. Juanita Ochoterena, of Susanville, Calif. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
